If you have thousands of emails in many different folders, Outlook will run slow on most systems. Use Cached Exchange Mode. If you have an account that is connected to Microsoft Exchange, then you should make sure Cached Exchange Mode is enabled. Ive tried to clear the cache on all the calendars and have it update fresh from exchange but its constantly slow due to outlook looking into our exchange server checking for any changes on the calendars. Exchange is not a issue because we can send and receive instantly on her link phone. It just seems like outlook is taking too long. Nov 21, 2012  I upgraded from outlook 2007 recently to outlook 2010. My outlook 2010 is very slow for no apparent reason. It takes 3+ seconds to do simple tasks like switch between email messages or deleting the current message when I press the delete button.

May 09, 2018  When the Exchange 2010 server is off, client connections are slow and/or intermittent. The client disconnects and reconnects. When selecting a shared calendar it can take a few minutes for content to show up.

Is your exchange server in house or hosted? We have trouble with any shared calendars on Exchange Online where there is a delay if you switch a calendar that isn't yours but I have never known that to happen to an onsite exchange server.

I would at least try to rebuild the OST file as the first step. If syncing is slow, you will definitely want to have cached mode on. Also check for any attached PST files as they have been known to slow things down under certain circumstances. Finally, how big is the mailbox overall?

If you have a Microsoft Exchange account, you can share and delegate Outlook e-mail messages, events, contacts, tasks, and notes with people who are on the same Exchange server.

Sharing is most often used by peers who are working on the same project. The shared folder appears under a separate account in the other user's navigation pane. Depending on the sharing permissions, the person may be able to read, create, edit, or delete items in the shared folder.

Delegation involves granting permission to another person, known as a delegate, to receive and respond to e-mail messages and meeting requests on your behalf. You can also grant additional permissions that allow your delegate to read, create, or edit items in your Exchange account.

Note: When you delegate or share an address book, calendar, or mail folder, delegates or users who share those folders could view your private contacts, events, or e-mail messages by using other software applications.
